A judge has ruled that a former gang leader, Duane "Keffe D" Davis, who is suspected of killing rapper Tupac Shakur, can be released on house arrest until his trial in June. The judge set his bail at $750,000. Davis, 60, was charged in September for Shakur's murder, which took place in Las Vegas in 1996. He has pleaded not guilty. Davis' lawyers argued for his release, stating that he is a grandfather and in declining health due to cancer. Prosecutors, on the other hand, claimed that Davis posed a danger to the public as a former gang leader. The judge ultimately granted house arrest, acknowledging Davis' past involvement with a gang and the fear some people still have of him. Davis is accused of planning the shooting with his nephew, Orlando Anderson, following a fight with Shakur. Security footage showed several men assaulting Anderson, leading to Shakur's retaliatory shooting. Davis allegedly obtained the gun from an associate and admitted to being in the vehicle during the shooting. The three other men in the car have since died. Tupac Shakur, also known as 2pac, was a highly acclaimed hip-hop artist who sold millions of records worldwide. Davis' arrest came 27 years after the murder when authorities found materials related to the shooting during a search of his home.
