Rapper Bad Bunny recently expressed his frustration over a viral TikTok song that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to replicate his voice. The track, called NostalgIA, has gained hundreds of thousands of views and also features vocals from Justin Bieber and Daddy Yankee. In a message on his WhatsApp channel, Bad Bunny criticized the song and asked those who enjoyed it to leave the group, stating that they did not deserve to be his friends and that he did not want them on his tour either. The Puerto Rican artist, who has 19 million followers on WhatsApp, used strong language in his post to express his displeasure with the AI-generated song. The uploader of the track claims to have used the AI platform FlowGPT to create it. Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, is rumored to be in a relationship with model Kendall Jenner, although neither of them has publicly confirmed this. BBC Newsbeat has sought a comment from Bad Bunny's record label regarding the AI track, and they have also reached out to Justin Bieber and Daddy Yankee for their response. This is not the first time that celebrities have criticized AI-generated tracks. In April, Drake and The Weeknd had their voices cloned in a song called Heart On My Sleeve, created by @ghostwriter. The track gained popularity online but was later removed from music streaming platforms after Drake voiced his objections, calling it "the final straw." AI software analyzes a vast amount of music to produce new compositions, but the absence of clear copyright laws surrounding this technology raises concerns about ownership. Nevertheless, some figures in the music industry view AI as a valuable tool for creating music and advocate for embracing the technology. While Spotify's CEO stated that the platform would not ban AI-generated tracks, he drew the line at cloning artists' voices.
