Tragedy Strikes as Venice Bus Tragically Falls From Bridge, Claiming Over 20 Lives

Local officials in Italy have reported that at least 20 individuals have lost their lives in an unfortunate incident where a bus fell off a flyover near Venice. The bus broke through a barrier and plummeted about 10 meters onto railway tracks in the Mestre district, which is linked to Venice by a bridge. According to local media, rescue workers are currently at the scene. Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro described the event as a "huge tragedy," stating that there are no words to truly capture the magnitude of the situation. Two children were among the victims, as confirmed by a spokesperson from Venice city hall. Ansa news agency reported that 21 people have tragically perished, 12 are injured, and up to five individuals remain unaccounted for. The cause of the accident is still unknown. Reports from Italian media suggest that the bus caught fire following the collision. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her condolences in response to this terrible incident.
