Israel has called on Russia to protect all its citizens and Jews after reports emerged of a violent mob storming an airport in Dagestan seeking people arriving from Tel Aviv. Videos shared on social media showed an angry crowd running through the airport in Makhachkala, shouting anti-Semitic slogans. Some of the individuals even managed to reach the runway and surrounded aircraft there. In response, the Israeli Prime Minister's office urged Russia to take firm action against the incitement of violence against Jews and Israelis. Russia's aviation agency promptly closed the airport, and security forces were dispatched to the scene. The government of Dagestan, a predominantly Muslim Russian republic, emphasized that a criminal case for civil disorder had been opened. Meanwhile, Israel's foreign ministry disclosed that the Israeli ambassador in Moscow was collaborating with the Russian authorities, emphasizing the country's deep concern regarding any attempts to harm Israeli citizens or Jews worldwide. Israel expects Russia's law enforcement agencies to protect all Israelis and Jews and take robust measures against the rioters and the unbridled incitement targeting them, according to the ministry's statement.
