British teenager Alex Batty, who had been missing for six years, has been found in France and is expected to return home to the UK soon. Alex disappeared in 2017 while on vacation in Spain with his mother and grandfather. His mother does not have legal custody of him, and her current whereabouts are unknown. Alex was discovered by a motorist on a road in the French Pyrenees, near Toulouse. He had been living a nomadic lifestyle with his mother and grandfather before he decided to leave when his mother wanted to go to Finland. After walking through the mountainous terrain for four days, he was found by a delivery driver who allowed him to use his phone to contact his grandmother, Susan Caruana. Susan, who is Alex's legal guardian, expressed relief and happiness that he was found safe and well and said she couldn't wait to be reunited with him. The family has requested privacy to ensure a comforting reunion for Alex. British police officers will accompany him on his return to the UK.
