Ghanaian media personality Afua Asantewaa has successfully completed a five-day singing marathon in hopes of earning a Guinness World Record. After singing for a total of 126 hours and 52 minutes, Asantewaa surpassed the previous record by nearly 24 hours. Although clearly exhausted and struggling to recall the current day, she expressed her gratitude to the crowd of supporters in Accra, the capital of Ghana. The rules set by Guinness World Records allowed her a brief five-minute break every hour or a 20-minute break after four hours. Asantewaa, an entrepreneur and former beauty queen, aspires to inspire women to step out of their comfort zones and take on new opportunities. Throughout the marathon, she performed 125 songs from various genres of Ghanaian music. Notable attendees included popular music artists, Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, and numerous actors and influencers. The event was filmed and witnessed by individuals who will submit a report to Guinness World Records for official recognition. This achievement follows a recent trend of record-breaking in neighboring Nigeria, sparked by chef Hilda Baci cooking for over 90 hours.
