British crocodile expert Adam Britton has confessed to 60 charges involving bestiality and child abuse material. The Australian court heard that Britton filmed himself inflicting brutal torture on dozens of dogs, resulting in the death of almost all of them. He would then share these videos online, while also accessing child abuse material. Britton, who is known for his work on productions by BBC and National Geographic, will face sentencing at a later date. Due to the graphic nature of the crimes, the judge warned individuals to leave the courtroom. The details of Britton's offenses are too disturbing to publish. Prosecutors revealed that Britton had a sadistic sexual interest in animals since at least 2014. He would exploit other dog owners by manipulating them into handing over their pets. Britton used the online marketplace Gumtree to find people who needed to give away their pets due to travel or work commitments and developed a rapport with them. When those owners reached out to him for updates on their former pets, he would provide false narratives and send them old photos. In reality, Britton abused the animals in a shipping container on his property, which he had equipped with recording equipment, referring to it as a "torture room." He then shared footage of these acts online under pseudonyms. The police eventually received one of these videos and arrested Britton in April 2022. Out of the 42 dogs he abused in the 18 months leading to his arrest, 39 did not survive. Britton, who has been in custody since his arrest, will face a sentencing hearing in December. Originally from Yorkshire, Britton relocated to Australia over two decades ago to work with crocodiles. He holds a Ph.D. in zoology and has gained a global reputation for his expertise, even hosting renowned broadcaster David Attenborough during the filming of the Life in Cold Blood docuseries on his property.
